One type of god. I just spit on myself hi guys and welcome back to to my channel today. Im going to be talking to you guys about something i get asked about all the time and that is my hunter and my bean boots.
We are literally in the dead of winter right now its almost february. So i figured this was a perfect time to talk about these two shoes because i very much consider them a fall winter shoe. I dont really wear them that much in the summer.
I might wear my hunters in the summer. But im gonna talk to you guys about more about that as we get into the video. So if youve been on the fence about either one of these shoes or youve been trying to decide.
Which one its right for you then hopefully this video will help so just keep watching and were gonna talk all about them i want to start off talking. I think about my hunter boots. Because i got my hunter boots.
First now. Ive been wanting a pair of hunter boots for a really long time. So.
This wasnt just like something i bought on a whim like at least for the last three to four years since they kind of come on my radar. I would definitely consider both of these shoes to be kind of in the top preppy trend. I feel like you see that theyre both worn a lot and that kind of style of clothing.
Which i do really love i do really love a lot of aspects of the preppy clothes um. Its not all i wear i do wear you know i try not to restrict myself too much to just one kind of genre of fashion. So i do like to kind of pick things from all different all different ones.
But i do really love and i have a lot of pieces that would probably be considered preppy. So thats how they kind of came on to my radar of course. I saw them all over pinterest and all over instagram.
I was like i have to have a pair of those one them so bad. But what took me so long to kind of pull the trigger on was the price because theyre not cheap so 100 boots retail for about 150 dollars. I do think that maybe once or twice a year around black friday chris time.
I do think that they run a sale and take a percentage off. I dont know how much it is because ive never bought any around that time. I bought mine at full price.
And ill show you guys the first pair that i ever bought and that is right here. So thats them so these are the touring one so theyre not likely theyre like the original style. But theyre the touring ones.
If that makes sense so the reason that theyre called touring is so you can fold them up like that you guys can see so theyre meant to be easier to travel with whereas. The original ones are stiffer and harder to to bend like that now i got the red ones. I had a really hard time the beginning to find what carl and i wanted black.
But my husband was like get the red ones. And itll be kind of neat and a pop of color. So i really glad i did i really love i love the red.
But i also really love the black. So i may be adding the black to my collection. Soon now.
I did buy these myself i purchased these at full price. And before we went to iceland. Because i wanted something that that would keep my feet kind of warm and and not give wet because of all the rain and stuff that we heard we were gonna run into a nice length now i do have another pair of hunters.
These were actually my moms but she gave them to me so these are the blue ones.

These are like kind of like a baby blue. I dont know how theyre kind of coming off on camera hopefully theyre coming off true to color. These are also the toy ones so they been so she gifted hers to me because hers.
She was not able to fit her calves in them. So thats one of the drawbacks about the hunter boots is like i with the originals. They dont have an adjusting strap.
They have this right here on the side. But this doesnt really help much to adjust and let in if you have youre someone who does have bigger thighs. That might be something to consider when youre buying these so.
Thats why she had to give her to me so i have to the red ones. I wear the most cuz. I feel like they just kind of go with most of the stuff that i have so i wear the red ones definitely all year round.
I can wear them like i said dont really wear them much in the summer time unless. Its just pouring down rain. I mostly wear the red ones in the fall and the winter.
Because i just think that color kind of goes better with that season and then a lot of times. Ill wear the blue ones like in the spring spring or summer because i think this is more a spring or summer color. Even though i still wear the red ones more than the blue.
If that makes sense so i do believe that hunter has a rain boot. That is adjustable. But i do believe its a higher price.
They do have several ones to pick from these are on the lower range. Actually think these the original and the touring are their cheapest ones and the price just goes up from there. The reason that i wanted these was because for one i just love rain boots i just ever since i was a little girl.
I have an obsession with rain boots. I think theyre so cute. I think theyre cute with anything they look good with jeans they look good with dresses.
I dont know theyre just so cute um. I shopped around a lot to try and find a rain boot that looked like the hunter. But was cheaper and i just couldnt find anything because a lot of the rain boots that i were finding were shorter and fatter and they just didnt have that kind of sleek look like the hunters have if you thought im talking about that really long sleek look.
Its just beautiful. So yeah. That was why i ended up going and just pulling the trigger on these because nothing else i found was was what i wanted and was it was satisfying me.
And the looks and the function that i wanted and a lot of reboots are actually not very comfortable. So i was really really surprised when i put on my hunters for the first time how much more comfortable they were than the other rain boots. I had tried on so now lets talk about durability cuz.
I do know ive read some reviews people have said that theyve cracked or theyve developed holes. Ive had mine for a little over a year now and ive not had that problem now i dont wear these like obsessively. I dont wear them every day like i said i only wear them when its really really cold and wet or one of the other so its not like im wearing these a ton.
Im not there if youre wearing them everyday. If youre having to walk every day in snow and sleet. Then these might not be the option for you i really do believe these are not really for if you live in a place.
Where the snow is really really bad and the weather was really bad because i do believe these are meant to be more of like a rain type boot. Not really like a snow type the one good thing. I would say about these where the snow is because they are so tall.
I mean you could walk in pretty tall snow without having to worry about it going in.

But it doesnt tie snugly around the top. So you know stuff could still get down in there of course. I havent had a problem with that but i do believe it is a possibility now for these for being keeping your feet warm.
I dont think theyre as warm as the beam boots. But im gonna talk about the maine boots in just a minute so thats another reason why im saying that these might not be the perfect type of boot for really really cold weather but you can buy inserts they have them on the website. There they look very comfortable and soft.
I dont own any but ill link them down below. So you can go check them out if youre thinking about buying a pair of these and you want to keep your feet warm. Ive heard that theyre really nice and warm paired with some nice worn socks.
Then they can make an excellent kind of choice now like i said. I did buy my hunters to go to iceland um and we went in may and they worked pretty fine. I mean i didnt really have any with them.
But i do wish that i had bought the bean boots to go to iceland instead. Because i think they were more suited for that so im going to talk to you guys about my bean boots. Now this is what they look like here are maybe boots they look very dirty because they are ive been doing a lot of getting a lot of use out of them alright.
So if you guys can see i want to give you a little look at cacao everything looks so theres that besides the back you guys the laces. Okay. So thats how the bean boot.
Looks now. Ive been wanting to being boots just as long as i have been wanting the hunter boots. I cant give you a good reason.
Why i decided to get the hunter over the bean boots. I dont know because i like them both pretty much the same. I just decided to go ahead and buy the hunters.
And it took me a little bit longer to get the bean boots. Even though the bean boots are actually. Cheaper mine are the 8 inch.
So see theyre a little bit taller minor the 8 inch. They have 6 inch and 8 inch and mine retailed for 135. I believe and i actually did get these on sale.
I got like 20 percent off so came to a little over 100 when it was all said and done and i got free shipping. So these are the original like doug booths. Theyve been around for like 100 years or more bean boots were the like original.
Theyre there theyre the creators of this now several places have duplicated this and you can get knock offs. I think sperry has one called the salt. I believe is what its called.
But i really really wanted it was no question i wanted the bean boot. I looked at the sperrys they are really similar in price. I think they might be a little bit cheaper.
But they have zippers here on the side right here. And i did not like that for me that was just kind of took away from the look. And the function.
So i think. The sperrys are meant to be more of a kind of a fashion type duck boot. Where these are meant to be more of a actual like working type working tight boot.
So i bought these more for their function than for their look.

I know a lot of people buy them because they think theyre cute and theyre fashionable. Which they are cute in a in a weird way theyre like so ugly. Theyre cute so theyve been theyve gotten really really popular in the last couple of years especially.
I think with college students and girls. But i think thats in part because theyre so functionable theyre very very warm and they keep your feet dry. So im really excited to to finally get them now they have like this kind of dual look to them they have the leather at the top and then they have the rubber at the bottom so they kind of look like a rain boot.
Thats why i was saying that they are kind of similar in that aspect to the to the hunter that they are some some lettering boots. So you can actually walk through water with these all the way up not to the you know you dont want to completely submerge. It because water can still get in over the top.
But if youre you know walking in water thats to here your foot is gonna stay completely dry no because ive done it ive stepped in water with these and my foot has stayed completely dry and thats because theyre so well stitched and you guys can see that the tongue doesnt come off guys can see right there the tongue is attached so thats how it allows air to get in now. I have mine laced like this so. That i can just slip them on and if i want to tighten them up i can and theyll be snug around my leg.
So the main reason that i decided to get my beam boots were really more for the function than for the looks i needed a boot that i can wear out when i was doing my photo shoots. Im usually in places that are pretty heavily wooded pretty wet so i needed a boot that could function for me in that way and this boot has definitely done done all of that the sizing can be a little bit confusing on these boots. I want to talk to you guys about that really quick.
I have a size seven and i think i just bought the normal width. They have like like if you have a thinner foot or home whatever if you have a wider foot and then they have just normal. I went with the just normal width.
Because my foot is not really slim or wide its i think its just comfortable so i just went with normal and i just bought my size that i usually buy like 90 of the time. Im in a size seven sometimes seven and a half but these do not come in half sizes. So yeah i just got the seven they actually run a little bit big so it does say on this website.
If youre not planning on wearing them with thick socks to size doubt. And i can definitely i can definitely see that when i wear just regular socks with these my foot does feel like theres a lot of room around it so that might be something that you want to consider if youre planning on wearing really really thick like camp socks then getting your normal size should be fine. It does also say that there should be a little bit of room in the toe to allow air to flow and to breathe.
So you dont want your foot crammed in there. So thats something to to really think about and consider that something i did a lot of research on when i purchased my mind it does also say that if you wear half sizes. I believe youre supposed to size size down as well so like frenzy fear like a seven half by a seven and then if youre like a seven and youre not gonna wear thick socks by a six if that makes sense but like i said i just went with my size a seven because i do sometimes wear seven and a half and i plan on wearing thick socks.
So i do feel like i feel like i got the size pretty pretty good they do feel like i said a little bigger than normally what my shoes feel like. But i think thats just because of the boot. That it is its just bigger and heavier and then i i do think if i had gotten the six that it may have been more snug but overall.
Im pretty happy with how it fits. So yeah. And then the reason i decided to get the 8 inch.
That was one thing that i was really just it was hard for me to decide on because obviously unless you live in maine. With just where they make the shoes. You cant try them on so.
So yeah. You really have to guess with these. When youre buying them like i said unless you live in maine.
You can go to their store. And try it on um. I just liked i looked what i did is i went on pinterest and i an i google or i typed in the 8 inch.
And i typed in the six inch just to see how they kind of fit on people of course. Its gonna look different with me. I am just for reference.
Im 5 3.

So theres just one little problem that ive had with my be boots that i want to point out really quick before i wrap this video up and that is right here. If you guys can see i dont know if you can tell. But theres yeah right there you can see where the leather was kind of like scratched off when and that happened when i went to lace them up so.
These laces are really rough and wiry and when i went to lace the boots up and the lace is actually cut into the leather and messed it up so. I was really disappointed about that especially spending that kind of money and i dont only had them for two months. Now that actually happened just a couple of weeks after i got them so i am actually planning on sending them back because of that reason.
But i am gonna get another pair. So im just going to send them back and exchange them for the exact same ones and im gonna write them and see why that might have happened and ways that i can move in it may have been because i didnt treat these before i wore them. But it didnt say to i actually had to do a ton of research to find anything that suggested that i might have needed to treat these with like a leather protectant or before i did that so i had no idea.
So yeah just something to keep in mind just be very careful when you get yours and lace. Them up. I i couldnt find where anyone else had that problem like of all the googling and youtubing.
I was doing no i mentioned that so i dont know if thats common or if its not common so i just wanted to point that out in case. Theres someone else out there thats had that problem. If you guys have let me know leave me a comment down below and like what you did to fix it or to prevent it.
But yeah. I will be definitely exchanging those for that reason now how it had any problems with my hunters. Ive had them a lot longer theyre still really like really good condition.
Hunters. Do send to have a little problem. Where they kind of get like this kind of like chalky look to them i havent experienced that with mine yet.
But there are videos i know on youtube that show you how to clean them so im not gonna talk about that for the sake of this video being super long so if thats a problem that youre having with your hunters definitely look it up because i know theres a lot of videos out there that i found when i was researching before i got mine. So thats basically it i hopefully i covered everything from the price like i said. My hunters were 150 the 8 inch.
Beam boots were 135 try and get them on sale. If you can wait and hold off until like black friday or something. So you can get a little bit off other than that i love both of them i dont regret either one of the purchases.
I knew that these were shoes that buying them and spending that kind of money they were gonna last me and that was the main thing. I was knowing how old especially like the bean boots. How long theyve been around and knowing that i could possibly have these for 20 30 plus years and maybe even hand them down to my children because i dont know ill be able to hand them to my son.
So maybe if i have a daughter uh huh. I heard some people had actually done that with their so so yeah. If you guys have any questions that i didnt cover in this video.
Then please be sure to leave me a comment. Ask me and i would be happy to answer any of those questions uh yeah. And hopefully this video wasnt too long.
Im sorry if you guys thought it was really long. Ill try and put timestamps in where i talk about certain aspects. Im just trying to make sure that i cover everything and answering all the questions that i had before i bought these shoes.
So yeah um. Like i said that i think that if you live in an area. Where its more mainly just rainy.
I think that the hunter boots would probably be better for you if you live an area where its really really cold. Then maybe go with the bean boots. But hopefully.
The things that ive talked about it kind of helped you decide maybe price point versus look. But yeah so thank you guys so much for watching. I hope to you if you like this video youll give it a thumbs up and if youre not subscribed.
